Shopper’s Diary: Ponytail in Charleston, SC, a Pop-Up Shop Poised to Go on the Road
We first became aware of Charleston, South Carolina-based Helen Rice’s creative agency, Fuzzco, which she cofounded with Josh Nissenboim, back in 2014 (see Fuzzco in Charleston, South Carolina). Every now and then we check in to see what Helen is up to, so we were intrigued when we discovered Ponytail, her new collection of “curious and functional objects and art,” available online or by appointment (DM her at Ponytail).
“After more than two decades running Fuzzco, I wanted my next adventure to free me from being tethered to my screen,” she says. When asked about the shop’s name, she says, “Growing up, I wore a ponytail because I was busy being a tomboy. I wanted the shop to be an expression of a new phase in my life where I didn’t take things so seriously.”
On offer: an eclectic mix of vintage and contemporary pieces for the home, ranging from sculptural cutting boards by Edward Wohl, antique Georgian teapots, candles by London maker Moro Dabro, pieces from Copenhagen design studio Frama, and more. Stay tuned: Helen plans to take the show on the road in the coming year.
