Casa Vipp: The Danish Design House Opens a Mountain Hideaway in Andorra

Vipp, the Danish brand that started with a steel pedal bin in 1939, is now synonymous with modular metal kitchens and, of late, furniture and lighting for every room. To show what it has to offer, the design house—still owned and run by the originator’s family—has created a memorable range of lodgings in some of the world’s most extraordinary places: see, for instance, Cliffhanger Holiday: Vipp-Furnished Tiny Vacation Cabins on a Fjord and The Vipp Pop-Up Palazzo.

The latest is in Andorra la Vella, capital of the mountain microstate of Andorra situated between Spain and France (the Spanish Bishop of Urgell and president of France serve as co-princes). Casa Vipp is set in a centuries-old stone structure in the heart of the old town. The one-bedroom, 200-square-meter duplex offers guests a getaway and a chance to fully test drive Vipp’s designs, from kitchen cabinets and sink accessories to bedside lighting and towel hooks—the aim, as  company puts it, is “to elevate product encounters by placing them in architectural settings that provide a complete and aesthetic experience.”
