What is your background in furniture and home design?

I’ve been working in the interior design and furniture world for 10 years. I received a Master of Arts in Interior Design, and in my early career I worked as a designer for several residential and commercial design firms. I have since been working in the furniture industry, primarily in trade and B2B sales, and I am constantly eager to observe and learn about new trends and designs in the interiors world!

What makes you passionate about furniture and home design?

I have been passionate about interior design since I can remember, and with that comes an obsession with furnishings. I grew up in Buffalo, New York, the city of good neighbors – the amazing architecture, incredible artistic community, and friendly culture helped mold me into the design-loving person I am today. 

My interest in architecture and design started when I first observed new development projects popping up in Buffalo. Seeing this all led me to the decision to pursue a degree in interior design. I am constantly inspired by the furniture and designs I see throughout my everyday life, and my passion for interior design is ever-evolving!

How does Inside Weather’s “Work With A Designer” program work?

Could you tell us a little bit about a recent project you enjoyed working on?

I was recently challenged with helping a client update the first floor of their 1920’s home to make it more modern while maintaining the beautiful original design elements of the home. We worked together to select warm color palettes to complement the dark walnut woods, printed area rugs to modernize the space, and, of course, comfortable furniture to give the entire family a space to gather and share memories. 

After several revisions, we landed on the Modular 5-Seater Bondi Sectional in performance-fabric Dove Gray to make sure there was plenty of room for everyone in the main living space. We paired the sectional with an accent rug in the print Sequence, and a pair of Ada accent chairs in a fun pop of color to bring some fun into the design. The client couldn’t have been happier with the finished product!

There are so many tips to choose from, but here are some of my favorites!

• Set a color scheme that will work throughout your entire home. You can use different tones within the same color family to make your spaces feel like they compliment each other.
• Add artwork! Adding artwork is a great way to add a personal touch to any space.
• Bring in greenery. Adding plants into your design is a great way to bring some life, and some color, into your space!
• Play with pattern and texture. Bringing different patterns and textures together is a great way to create depth and interest within your design!
