Americana Redux: Wildflower Farms Resort in the Hudson Valley
Given that this week’s theme is “Fresh Picks,” how could we not include this newish hotel (it opened this past fall) in the Hudson Valley called Wildflower Farms? The resort, set on 140 bucolic acres in Gardiner, New York, is abloom with design ideas that one doesn’t normally see in hotels.
“We designed the project to feel like someone’s country retreat in the Hudson Valley and to take you far away from city life,” says Christie Ward, of Ward + Gray, the New York City-based studio charged with the resort’s interior design. “We looked to the Arts and Crafts movement in the area and early American homes to find inspiration for the furniture shapes and the motifs [that show up in] the custom fabrics and rugs.”
Below, she delves into the design decisions that went into creating the chic-in-the-country vibe at Wildflower.
